WTF was that? is an in-game social media post discussing the appearance of Prometheus during a speech by Mayor Hermanubis.

It appears in every playthrough and is accessible from the very early in the game's story.

Contents

  • Budahas (917): Seriously, what the Founder was that thing in the sky? We all saw that, right? I didn't accidentally turn on Sleep Mode while Herman was talking, did I? (I mean it's always tempting...)
  • Letitia (824): No, we all saw it.
  • Zagoran (211): Can confirm.
  • Ovis (909): I believe it was a sign from the Founder! What else could it be, on this day of all days?
  • Zagoran (211): Pretty incoherent for a sign. It didn't even finish whatever it was trying to say. What, does the Founder have energy insufficiency problems too?
  • Thecla (862): The Founder works in mysterious ways.

At this point the player is given two options:

  1. Maybe it really was a sign.
  2. I don't think it was a sign.

Option 1

  • 1k (1000): Maybe it really was a sign.
  • Ovis (909): Thank you, 1k. I'm glad you see it that way. We must remain open [to] the possibility of miracles.
  • Zagoran (211): In what possible way could that garbled mess have been a sign?

In response, the player can select

  1. Maybe it is something for us to decipher. A riddle.
  2. A sign of life. Not necessarily something intentional, but a sign.
  3. I don't know, but there's something intelligent out there.

Option 1.1

  • 1k (1000): Maybe it is something for us to decipher. A riddle.
  • Thecla (862): Riddles and puzzles are the foundations of our journey. So it began, perhaps so it will continue.

Option 1.2

  • 1k (1000): A sign of life. Not necessarily something intentional, but a sign.
  • Budahas (917): Sounds reasonable enough to me. Something weird is going on for sure, but what? We'll have to see.
  • Thecla (862): Riddles and puzzles are the foundations of our journey. So it began, perhaps so it will continue.

Option 1.3

  • 1k (1000): I don't know, but there's something intelligent out there.
  • Zagoran (211): As some people on here have amply demonstrated, the appearance of intelligence does not always indicate its presence.

Option 2

  • 1k (1000): I don't think it was a sign.
  • Zagoran (211): Out of the mouths of babes...
  • Ovis (909): How could such a remarkable display of unimagined powers not be a sign?

Here again the player has three choices:

  1. It's something, but not necessarily the Founder.
  2. It could be a sign of life, but that doesn't mean it's intentional.
  3. It could be coincidence. A technological accident.

Option 2.1

  • 1k (1000): It's something, but not necessarily the Founder.
  • Budahas (917): Sounds reasonable enough to me. Something weird is going on for sure, but what? We'll have to see.
  • Thecla (862): Riddles and puzzles are the foundations of our journey. So it began, perhaps so it will continue.

Option 2.2

  • 1k (1000): It could be a sign of life, but that doesn't mean it's intentional.
  • Budahas (917): Sounds reasonable enough to me. Something weird is going on for sure, but what? We'll have to see.
  • Thecla (862): Riddles and puzzles are the foundations of our journey. So it began, perhaps so it will continue.

Option 2.3

  • 1k (1000): It could be coincidence. A technological accident.
  • Zagoran (211): Exactly. Maybe some old projector somewhere hiccuped and farted out this nonsense. Or maybe it's something important, but broken. Or it's a hoax. Or it's nothing. Either way, Byron has been right all along. We need to investigate and find out.
  • Thecla (862): Riddles and puzzles are the foundations of our journey. So it began, perhaps so it will continue.
