Puzzle elements

Overview

When you enter the puzzle, you find yourself in a twisty room.

  • The main room takes a U-turn up ahead to the right and reaches a window into a small room with an emitter in it. There are two connectors outside. Back on the left side, it twists in to the second room, blocked by a blue door, with a red receiver outside.
  • The small emitter room has a red emitter, a red receiver, and two windows. One of the windows is always open, and is facing the little corridor on the twisty end of the main room on the right. The other window is blocked off by a blue door and faces the area near the entrance.
  • The inner, second room has two windows that face out to the main room. It wraps around the back, where there is a red receiver next to a blue door that leads to the progress wheel.

Hints

A basic hint:

[ hint ]
Since the name of the puzzle is Rerouting, you will have to figure out how to move the equipment that routes lasers to receivers, without interrupting anything important to you.

The main mechanic of this puzzle:

[ hint ]
In this puzzle, we use a mechanic that we have not really seen before in any other puzzle. If the laser of the same color interrupts another laser beam, then at least one of those lasers continues uninterrupted. You can use this to move the connectors around.

If you're struggling with the angles:

[ hint ]
In this puzzle you have to connect a lot of equipment, each connector has often four things to manage. Finding the angles is a bit harder than usual, take your time and don't be afraid to reset the puzzle if needed.

If you got stuck inside the second room:

[ hint ]
Reset the puzzle. Next time, be sure to also supply laser to the connector outside, because you can't be sure that the laser from the newer connector will not interrupt the supply to that connector, trapping you inside.

If you're struggling to even get started:

[ hint ]
Using the window at the end of the right corridor, connect the red receiver, but keep your connector at the left corner of the window. Pick up the other connector, walk all the way to near the entrance to the puzzle. Connect the emitter, receiver, and the other connector as well, and place it as far to the left as you can while still maintaining connections to the other connector. This frees up the first connector.
