Puzzle elements

When you enter this puzzle, you find yourself in a large L-shaped room.

  • The outermost room has a blue emitter on the entrance wall, a hexahedron and a connector in the middle of the room, and a pressure plate next to a fan on the far left end. There is a ladder leading to the next inner room, next to a blue door.
  • The second room is also L-shaped, and has a ladder leading back out to the outer room. There is a blue activator available, and a another blue door that leads to the innermost room. On one end is the blue door that leads to the progress wheel.
  • The innermost room has a hexahedron in it next to a horizontal fan pointed at the door.

A basic hint:

[ hint ]
Since the name of the puzzle is Backwards, you have to go back and forth a number of times between the second room and the outer room. You also have to think back from the desired state of the puzzle to how you can configure the equipment to reach that goal.

If you're having trouble getting started:

[ hint ]
Focus on finding a way to provide light to the inner room, even if it needs a bit of manual intervention.

If you're unable to get to the inner hexahedron:

[ hint ]
When placing the activator, the game will show you some icons that indicate what equipment will become active when you place it at that location. Make sure that the right set of equipment is being activated when you place it.

If your laser is getting blocked by the grate:

[ hint ]
You may need to go further away from the grate, or if that is not an option, you will need more elevation inside.

If you're unsure what the ultimate goal of the puzzle is:

[ hint ]
You have to provide a steady source of blue light at an elevation, so that the activator can unlock the progress wheel door.

A list of major objectives:

[ hint ]
Push innermost hexahedron out. Bring it out further. Set up light in the sky.
