A Switch Out of Reach is a puzzle in World A1 of The Talos Principle.

Puzzle elements


Overview

This puzzle requires the player to overcome both a Turret and a Guard using only a single Jammer. Notably, a Switch is connected to the Turret. However, the Switch is initially unreachable without walking through the Turret's line of sight.

Hints

If you don't know what the switch does:

In this puzzle, a switch in the off position disables whatever it is attached to.

If you don't know how the jammer will behave:

A jammed turret will be off, regardless of whether its switch is on. A turret turned off by its switch will be off, regardless of whether it is jammed.

Solution

Using the jammer, jam the turret. Then, go past the turret and up the stairs on the left to flip the switch. You can then pick your jammer back up without re-enabling the turret (its switch is now inactive). Jam the guard and pick up the sigil.
