Control is the fourth main puzzle in the Circular Oasis area of The Talos Principle 2.

Puzzle elements

Overview

When you enter the puzzle, you find yourself in an octagonal arena.

  • On the near side, on the ground is a connector.
  • To the left on the near side is a pressure plate next to a blue door that is hiding a blue emitter.
  • On the left, between the near side and the far side is a blue door.
  • On the left, on the corner of the far side is a red emitter.
  • On the middle of the far side is a pressure plate that is next to a blue door. That leads to another area with a blue receiver that controls access to the progress wheel.
  • On the right, the far side has a connector on the ground.
  • On the right, between the far side and the near side is a blue door, with a blue receiver next to it.
  • On the right, on the near side is a blue door next to a red receiver. There is a driller behind the blue door.
  • In the absolute center of all this is a rotating platform. Unlike other rotating platforms you've seen before, the circumference of this one does not have walls, rather there are walls along two perpendicular diameters, forming a plus sign. One of the arms of that plus sign is made of a drillable material, and another arm has a red receiver on it. One of the effects of the red receiver being activated is to turn the rotating platform counter clockwise by 90 degrees.

Hints

A basic hint:

[ hint ]
Since the name of this puzzle is Control, you have to carefully control the rotation of the central platform. If you try to do it in the obvious way, it will be unstable. You have to bring a measure of control to the system.

If you're having trouble getting started:

[ hint ]
The first task is to get access to the rear area.

The second objective:

[ hint ]
The next task is to get access to the driller.

If you're having trouble stabilising the rotating platform:

[ hint ]
Notice that the red receiver on the rotating platform has two effects. Can you use the second effect to help the receiver from a different angle?

If you're not sure what the driller is for:

[ hint ]
There is only one drillable surface. But note that there is need for equipment in the back room also.

If you're struggling to get the blue laser:

[ hint ]
Note that it is not necessary for the same connector to direct blue light as well as push on the pressure plate. Something else can also be used for the pressure plate.
